What reamer is it hoggy? adjustable?

i only ask, as minispares seem to think the valves ive ordered have a 7.05mm stem...

would the highlift one not do both? or is it quite important to have the guides up high?

cheers

For a high lift cam you push them in the head further so theres more clearance between the top of the guide and the retainer at full lift

The further you push them in the more guid you have sticking out into the port which obviously isnt ideal

If you replace guides then the seats need re cutting yes? or atleast they do most of the time when i do it.

i have found over the years if you use say a 276 type cam with 1.5 rockers the retainer just catchers the oil seal and ripping it apart on the inlets, buy sitting them further down buy .5mm it misses.

yes the first time you fit new guides from the factory ones you need the seats recut but once you have done this then evry time you refit new guides then they just need a lap in as when the oringinal ones are fitted they are blanks and are drilled reamed and seat cut all in one action and most are not central, but when you fit after market guides they are central so the seats need recutting for the new guides but after the first recut then just e relap should do.

yes the higher lift will do but i can make it any height you like it not a problem.

stay clearof adjustable reamers of that size if you can as they are a pain to use as they are so small and delicate as willy will tell you.

on the mr and mrs thing all cheque goes into the wifes savings account as she doesnt pay tax ( i should have been an accountant).

9/32 is 7.31mm if thats any help.

for iron guides there rarely need reaming but the bronze ones do as they swell when inserted, but personaly i prefer bronze ones as the iron ones ware out to quickly.

My experience is that if you use stainless valves with bronze guides. The valves wear. If you use chrome stemmed valves and iron guides, the guides wear.
As I replace guides myself, I find it cheaper to use iron guides and let the valves survive *wink*
The valves and guides in the A+ heads are usually in VERY GOOD condition. I don't think I've ever binned an A+ valve due to stem wear. They're EXCELLENT in the wear department however not really up to the job in the flow. Of course back-cutting does help:

Oh btw.. I bought Hogsters kit years ago :)

having never done this before, will the 9/32 be fine for my application, or should i look for one matched to my valve stem thickness?

sorry about all the questions

i would find out the definite sixe of the stems, all the ones ive used are 9/32 stems , well the clearance reamer is anyway, standard and rimflows plus minispares race valves all seem to be of standard size.

reamers is not so much of a problem. its the setting tool that i am most interested in ( unless the reamer is better than these here https://www.dormershop.nl/webshop/ruimers/h...rmer-b100.html)
