Hi,
I am currently considering (well sort of made up my mind) turboing my Mini. I had considered supercharging it, but the cost and limited power has put me off a bit.

So anyway I want to turbo my mini. What I want to know is: would I be better off getting hold of a complete turbo engine or modiffying mine? I currently have a 1275 cooper engine with twin su's and a flowed head (not sure what spec). How difficult is it to turbo my engine?

Also is there anyway that the turbo can positioned anywhere else so a bulk head box does not need to be used? (stupid question?)

use the search button and look for mirage kit.

the kit may not look cheap but thats nothing compaired to the other costs of a turbo mini

Welcome to the site, have a read through the "Beginners" and "FAQ" sections to get some background knowledge, look in particular for a post "Metro Turbo Engine Myths" to get you started.

£350 for the manifolds doesn't seem that expensive. Are the Garrett T2 turbos any good? What sort of power are they good for? (bit of a difficult question I know)

Plenty of people are running T2's. Stock R5 spec unit is good for about 160hp or so on the right motor. *smiley*

Cheers all.
How much does the average turbo set up cost if you are modifying your current engine (1275)?

unless you a very very lucky then to be honest the only place to find these really is ebay and they are becoming very expensive. go on ebay and look.

but be very aware and assume eveything you buy may need a rebuild. all carbs turbos fuel pumps etc are all getting on for20 yrs old

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Try advertising for one in something like the Miniworld wanted section, I did that and landed a turbo engine for £170 in April, its in good condition as well.

Cheers for the advice. The Mirage kit looks very tempting.
