Hi, this has probably been asked before but couldn’t find it on a search, does anyone know if I can take the gear set from a remote type gear box and put them in rod type? Do I need any additions from the set in the remote type?
Any help would be great.
Cheers.

Vegard i'm sure will corect me if i'm wrong*laughing*

you can swap remote gears into an early rod box (pre A+) as they have the same layshaft but not into an A+.

also the reverse idler thingy is different due to the gearchange but i belive the rod one can be left in as first gear is the same.

Yes you can :) As long as they are both A and 4sync, the only difference is the reverse gear.

So, you need to find a rod reverse gear, that's all :)

so just to clarify,

you can't put A into an A+ casing?

I seem to remember the layshaft hole nearest the flywheel is a different size.

A in an A+ is easy. Both layshaft holes are similar, it's the shaft that's different.

HOWEVER: If your fitting an A+ layshaft in an A box, the secondary step on the A+ layshaft needs to be reduced by approx one or two mm.
