Didnt have the heart (or head) to do any grinding on the 295 head today, so mocked up the intercooler on the donor 998 engine:

Pretty pleased considering the whole lot only cost around the £100 mark, big thanks to JF and Wolfie for the bottle tops and mars bars.

its all 51mm dairy tube (think "blown imp" is thinking of selling some similar stuff in the for sale section), using 60mm to 51mm step downs at the i/cs outlets.

credit should really go to bud666 (its basically justa copy of his)

Not very sunny swanage

looks good, but it will need to sit down a lot lowere than that to get it into a roundnose front....... ill post a pic of mine if i get a sec. the major prblem is getting the turbo to intercooler pipe to run without kinking. iirc turbo tim has done away with the side rad and runs the turbo outlet where the top of th rad would be.....

Pete

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

looks good dude, thought it looked familiar *wink*

The only thing that really got on my tits with it was the pipe that goes to the plenum behind the rocker cover gets in the way of the throttle cable, mine was forever knackering the outer cable and causing the throttle to jam open, i know kean ended up making a new bracket to clip the cable into and i'll be doing it aswell when i fit mine next week.

cheers for the heads up, its got a 135 coming off the 'up' pipe at the minute, and when it sags (withouyt the wood support) it does kink a little:

might try a 90 on it tomorrow, see if thats any better.

Looking at the pics i dont think it'll quite fit under the bonnet!

Mines almost identical apart from the top of the cooler sits inline with the bottom of the rocker cover, and that only just squeezed in.

I tried the same thing on the hose from the turbo (45degree) having to change it to a 90 degree reducer in the end.

Still Waiting for Wes to remember to bring the hose round to mine. *wink*

Are you going to bolt the ic onto your bonnet? *happy*

The ic is sitting much to high...needs to be as high as de valve cover, problem you will encounter is to get the ic hose between the radiator top hose and valve cover. The other side is ok, plenty of room.

Nice pics....

indeed it is way too high, I was planning on bolting it to the slam panel like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...24188&rd=1&rd=1

Im sure the hosing from the cooler to plenum will be ok this low down (will just swivel around the plenum outlet).

As for the turbo to plenum, i think ive got a bit more chin scratching to do, i think the 998 block is about an inch shorter than the big bores, so i might get away with it running over the stat with 51mm 135 bends coming out of the cooler reducers..?

Popeye, just had a look on your blog, is that a 4x4 or 2wd intercooler?

It's a 4wd ic......still busy figuring out how to cram it in.
The intercoolerpiping in front of and around the radiator won't work because there is not enough room between front side of the rad when I put the bonnet on. :(
So probably the piping will go beneith the top hose and over the radiator bracket, this will have to be modified a bit.
