Please help me, It's been a week now since my dipstick has been pumping copious amounts of oil onto my shiney engine bay!

I have checked all of the breathers for a blockage, checked the oil feed take-off for the turbo for leaks etc and i'm now stuck for what to try next!

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

sounds like its breathing very heavy.

there is suppose to be a rubber seal on the dipstick though.

I had to use a spring to keep my dipstick in clean and dry..

202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Should I worry about the pressure building up? I have been told that this is due to leaking engine wear (piston rings, bores etc etc) is this true? am I looking at needing a rebuild in the near future?

Is your oil pressure unusually high? You might want to install one of those adjustable oil pressure relief valve. Adding a spring to the dipstick may stop the leak. But it isn't solving the actual problem.

my thoughts exactly! Oil pressure is as usual, 60 when cold 40 when warm.

Any suggestions as to what the root of the problem is?

I cant see the pressure having any thing to do with it its breathing heavy that causes this or just a dicky dipstick.

Pull the oil filler cap off and see if there is any excess crank case pressure. If it's breathing heavy enough to blow out the dip stick it should be pretty obvious.

Dipstick not connected to HP oil circuit ... how could oil pressure be the cause (i.e. that created by the oil pump) .... can't see this myself.

While the gearbox itself isn't pressurized (that I am aware of), if the breathers are clogged, or something else causes pressures inside the motor to increase above normal, pressure builds inside the motor. The air and sometimes oil will then escape at the point of least resistence. Sometimes it's the dipstick tube.
