I read it a hundred times but still did not comprehend...

I never really sussed out just which bearing was the "Turbo nose bearing" and I dismantled both of my gearboxes , one Turbo one normal. When I saw the little cage type bearing right at the front that looked nothing like the nose bearing piccy on the minispares site I just snapped it off and pulled the remains off with a puller just a cheap cage bearing I thought....

DAMN!!

That was it!! the rest of it was still in the bloody transfer casing --- a 35 quid mistake cos I didnt read the posts properly and thought it was in the gearbox casing, not the TRANSFER casing..

If it's already sent one metro to the junkyard, it needs changing anyway. :)

Folks have managed with the standard bearing just fine before now; guess it depends what you want to do.

My standard transfer casing is slightly damaged near the starter, so I want to use the turbo one, I'll have to stump up..

For anyone else that cant read, The broken thing sitting on the end of the input gear is the turbo nose bearing....

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

same here*tongue*

but thanx to this forum now i know.
but if the bearing is different does this mean the casing is differant???

or aslong you replace the whole bearing it fits a normal or turbo casing?

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

Yup

The Turbo transfer casing has a bigger hole for the nose bearing so you have to use the appropriate bearing for whichever casing you use, but I believe they can be swapped, i.e its OK to use a normal transfer casing with a Turbo engine.

i got my new bearings for the gearbox rebuild

but now the question is which type of bearing did i get. i seems to be the same as i already got. so i will fitt. but i dont know for sure is it turbo or non-turbo????
it's a RHP 2/LRJ15.8
if someone could tell which one it is i know a little more about mine engine's tranfer casing. (turbo or standerd)

there is nothing wrong with a A-series that a turbo can't fix.

The 2/LRJ15.8 part number is the turbo type unless I am mistaken.
