There's a section in either beginners tech or FAQ, can't remember which, by turbodave. Goes through all the common running faults. Sounds to me like you've got a split in a vac hose somewhere.

Have a read of that, have a play and keep us informed.

frenchie,

if you have checked all the other possabilitys out and its still the same

it could be the carb mixture is too lean if you have the carb turned full in

please tell us why? you rebuilt the carb and give us more information regarding the problem you have

regards ben

ben,
i rebuild the carb with the su repair kit and dismantling it plenty off.
i know i'm running too lean but the plugs are black and full of petrol.
the iddle run at 1500 trs for 30 seconds and up to 3000 after and again 1500 etc....
i use 6mm fuel in line but 8mm return, should i use 8mm for in and out?

was the car running ok before you rebuilt the carb ?

if it was ok, then the problem may lie with the carb float bowl JET not seating correctley!

did you replace all the parts as you mentioned to cure a problem that was already there frenchie ?

have you checked the fuel pressure since changing the regulator?

are you only having these problems since rebuilding the carb? or where they there before?

i had a similar prob with the carb , it was the choke seals leaking have a good look at the choke drum ,the brass thing in the hole ,and see if it had hardened rubber seals , or if it has a groove worn in it . ,if so ,try to smooth it off and carefully insert new seals , making sure they go in the right way round ,.
maybe that will make a differance ?

Yeah my choke seals were buggered on the turbo imp, it would run fine one moment then super rich. It was the choke just letting in an unmetered amount of fuel on and off!

Def check that out, pretty simple job.
