Cheers dudes :)

It's a bit deceiving in the last pic Dave, think i'd knocked the splitter and it was pointing down a bit.

Yeah still a metro manifold for now Wil. Plan is to swap it for one of Matty's once it's up and running. Trying to save money on re-using bolt on parts so I can get it on the road sooner. Same goes for front brakes and suspension arms etc

Looks great, I know all about projects taking forever, but it's the fiddly bits that you don't think of and no one really sees that take forever.

Do you mind me asking where you got the intercooler from? It looks pretty close to what I'm after, I'd really like to have something nicer looking than an old Ford part when I open my bonnet, but I just can't seem to find anything.

Exactly that Flame Red, plus I'm winging my way through the entire thing!

The intercooler is an upgrade for an M135i, did some measuring to see what space I had and took a gamble this would fit. It's real close though, had to cut all the back of the grill away and I'm still nearly touching the alternator.

In the spirit of remembering to keep this up to date here's a few pics from today's progress.

Everything that was previously bodge taped on is now fitted up properly. Arches are all on, wings trimmed, underside of the plastic bits cut away. Added some speed holes to the a panels now they're cut back too.

The starter's a Brise hi-torque jobby, bit lighter than standard and I saw it for a bargain in the autojumble so grabbed it.

The black boxes are wireless senders/receivers, I've got a 4 way unit for the steering wheel switches and an 8 way for the rest of the switches going into the door panel. Figured it'd look nicer than having a spiral cable flapping round the wheel and no way could I get a loom into the door without it looking like ass.

Made a start on the wiring loom with the assistance of Ant, this is the part I've really not been looking forward to as it's such a difficult job to get looking nice.

Rear loom is all sorted, loom for the removeable front is all sorted, engine bay side of the loom all got finished off yesterday too. Just the mass of shite behind the dash to wire in now.

Stuff..

A shelf for it all to sit on

a tea break

a nest in the making

a weirdo who enjoys this sort of thing

figuring out the route

engine bay 99% wired, just one temp sensor to terminate and sleeve once I've got a boss in my top hose for it.

got my idiot lights fitted tonight too, still ignore the aem, that'll be going

and this one just because it made me sit back and think 'fuck'

Very nice, connecting it all up is one thing, making it look neat is another!

One question though, what is the advantage of plumbing in the heater take off as opposed to fitting a blanking plate? Just personal preference?

Cheers chaps!

Sturgeo, it's just to stop number 4 getting hotter than the others, at least that's what I've always figured so I've always ran it like that.

Yeah I'll be making a proper closing panel for where the loom comes through the inner wing, just needed a big enough hole to get the various connectors through. Maybe even a 32/40mm stuffing gland, will see what I've got kicking around at work.
