Guys, what Lucas Coil should I run with a late Turbo dizzy? (i.e. the one with the control module on the side). I also using a standard MrkII Mini loom.

I've already blown one control module up by fitting an Lucus Gold coil and don't want to do it again.....

Cheers

Hi,

I have a lucas gold coil on mine, spark is excellent, car starts first time, and I am 100% pleased with it.

Lucas made 2 types of goldcoils one for pre a+ engines and 1 for a+ engines and turbos. Make sure you fit the right type.

Paul.

Cheers Paul. Off to a Lucas specialist tomorrow so hopefully they'll have one.

Never had a problem with the standard coil supplied with the MG metro turbo, can remember years ago my mate having problems with blowing ignition packs(bits on side of dizzy or romote if early type like mine)when using the Lucas high energy gold coil.

Went to a Lucas specialist on Saturday who supplied me with a DLB198 coil.

This is the only coil sutable for non-bias resitor (as my car has the original MrkII wiring to some extent) and is sutable for electronic ignition.

The Gold Lucas coils were only made for points.

Anyone want to buy a spare gold coil? One carfull owner.

(Taken from the minispares website)

Lucas Gold Coil Part No. GCl 143

can be used on all ELEC IGN +TURBO FROM 84+ ALL SINGLE POINT INJECTION

This is the standard coil as used on the late Mini with factory electronic ignition. Genuine Rover part.

That is what MiniSpares may say, but the guy showed me the Lucas book and none of the Gold ones where listed for electronic Ignition.

I'll get the part number of the Gold one I have tonight and post it here.

Well, it took out my ignition system, so the comment on the Avonbar web site isn't specific. I think the best thing to do is check with Lucas or a Lucas supplier. It's sutable for direct 12v feed though (i.e. no resister).

?10 +P&P and it's yours. Either that or I'm at L2B if you want to meet up there. My car should be on the MiniWorld stand.
