Does the water level go down any, like are you loosing it? The bubbling rad sounds like you still have a head gasket prob. What was the block/head surfaces like? On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

What happens if you set your valve clearance tighter than the manual says? Does it get any quieter? I'm not saying this is the solution but the rocker tips are worn on my car and they are noisy unless I set them a little tighter. Are you sure you didn't pull a lifter out of it's bore when you pulled the head? Maybe you can't do this with a 1275 but I did it once on my 998. Also are you sure your rockers aren't hitting the rocker cover, like is it quiet with the cover off? On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

If they are smaller than .012" they won't shut properly when the engine is hot.

Your right but at least it will show that all the lfters are in place and nothing serious is amis, I just mean to try it and not leave it like this. In reality when you set the clearances the feeler gauge goes between the valve stem and the part of the tip that doesn't wipe the valve stem. i.e the clearance might be text book at this part of the rocker but the the part of the tip that makes contact is worn and hollowed a bit there is more slack there. This sounds confusing! On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

The head gasket problems could be a warped head?

did what BENROSS said and I had put the leads wrong way round (3&2 were put 3&2) from the cap, as I changed it with a new one which fixed the backfireing and missing. Glade it's running OK now. You're not the first person to do this an I'm sure you won't be the last. A lot of people muddle up 2&3, just remember that the dizzy spins anti-clockwise. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:
