I think wrm1024 is a late A+ block, you should se a 12h number just below the thermostat
6232 is std 1275 cranks,

where was the engine block number

WFM1024 is the same on all 1275

Early engines have the number at the front and late blocks have the number at the back IIRC.

Make it ovious!!! - The engine number on the protruding section of block behind where the alternator sits. Having an MED head, probably means the engine is rebuilt, and the original number has long gone!

Only post 89 (ish) blocks had the WFM marking ont he front...

block has got 2 ground off brass rivets where engine no plate should of been! but it has wfm 1024 directly above distruitor hole and the strengthening ribs at back with wfm1024 and 27k written above ...i just removed a mains cap and it has a central tang for bearing location...i also removed a rod and this has 12g4114/5 on it... any more ideas

Mark is all late metro stuff, the right stuff. The MED 1308t or whatever is there own stamp, 12g940 is the head number that is important. Often the engines are built with whatever is about, not always rebuilt from an MG metro itself.

As for Jim's statement of a "standard" 1275 crank, Wrong!, the 6232 has the filleted radius on the main and big end bearings, the right piece of kit...remember standard could mean 1972 1275GT or early Allegro!..different cranks again.

Mark ring MED!..

hi jon,i know we discussed the spec but im interested in learning to be able to identify the different parts myself...i now am 99% sure its a turbo block as it has the centre tangs for main bearing location, which apparently is unique to the turbo lump.......as its quite new im going for 15 cc forged omegas instead of the 10 cc omegas in there now,so just wanted to see if i can identify the rods and crank to make sure they are turbo items so i have good strength...i want to build this engine once and want it to last! its 18 yrs since i had a mini so ive forgoten lots!

ive seen a list somewhere of rod numbers but cannot find it now

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

post 89 blocks also had the central tang for the mains if i remember correctly.

10cc shoulf be fine for even high boost levels if the head is good.

Forged are a lot of extra expense in most peoples opinions *smiley*

Just a thought to save some money *smiley*

Stand Corrected, Jon is right with the cranks.

If you're pulling out the cast omega's, can I buy them?
