Hi;
My name is Raul I come from Mexico.
My first car in UK was a mini Piccadilly 87’ Who belonged to my mother-in-law, and then from her she passed it to my sister-in-law unfortunately she didn’t have a garage so the car spend almost the 45% of his productive life on the road in consequence of that he became rust and in really bad condition
When I received, it was already a difficult thing to rescue what became a shame because the car was on his 50,000 mails since new. My sister-in-law start her masters and soon she did not has a time or place to live the car so has she knew I ‘m a car lover she offered the car to me and that how the entire story began.
I make a lot of work on the car, and soon I start to have fun and using him as a daily car but every time something different went wrong.
I fixed time after time and seriously, it was looking different, I should said better, but it was a mater of time before the rust should his marks again, so I realise I was wasting my time and also my money.
Therefore, the car his sitting in my garage, hear in Welwyn Garden City for almost two or tree years, but I always remember how fun was to drive a mini. So one day I took the decision to send the mini to repaired with a recommended garage, immediately the quotation make me think more than two times on my challenge.
Soon after some calculations I afore to continue with my intention, so after a couple of weeks the mechanic discover something who change everything.
The car was in a very bad condition from underneath, so obviously the estimation increased considerably so I took the decision to buy other mini and from booth make a good one.
After a long hunting all the selected minis do I sore as a potential donor was even in worst condition than my one.
Whit out saying any comment about the prices, so I thought if I going to spend money, I should be wait and looking for something good. You know something that makes me think it will the car I always want as a toy, and it was like I finally I bought in eBay for £1,500.00 a mini city 1992 with a metro turbo engine.
The car look’s good and solid and the idea to have one of douse modified minis with extra power was so exited and I couldn’t resist so I pay for the car, the guy “ex-owner” tall me the car had a fugue on to the manifold reason way the car smells to petrol in side.
With the time (couple of months), the smell becomes even worst,
In addition, I noticed the car consumes more petrol than he used to, and the engine has a funny vibration in low revolutions.
I went to “Mini spare centre” in Potters bar and they kindly recommend me to this page and looking for Mr. Peter Baldwin as they recon he is the person who can fix my little mini or perhaps point me on the right direction and with the right person to live this mini in the condition do I always dream.
So please if some one know hem or if he can read this e-mail, please I really will appreciate if you can contact me to talk about my car on puro_mixquiahuala@yahoo.com.mx or raulolguinsanchez@hotmail.com or alternately on tel. 07738634745
Thank you in advance for the time to read my story and to reply if this is possible.
Kind regards.
Raul Olguin.

Hello and welcome
What exactly do you mean by
"fugue on to the manifold"?
If you can smell petrol, check all the fuel lines, and have a good sniff about in the boot near the fuel tank
"Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun"
"did you know you can toast potato waffles?"

Many thanks guys!!!!
To be honest I wasn’t expecting all your kindly comments, its fill really good to be on between to many friendly and good knowledge and I promise I will not let you down with this mini, after all will be difficult to do that wit all this friendly support and advises, really for all of you many thanks!!
Now I have to confess as you probably already realise, English as a language and turbo minis are not precisely the knowledge do I can be proud to poses. But believe me I’m working on it, so my apologies in advance if some of my comments some time doesn’t have sense at all, or worse than that doesn’t sounds polite or logical. If you get me the opportunity, I will looking for the best way to dissipate as many confusion as I can create.
For example, I describe as one of my problems on the mini “fugue on the manifold” What I tries to explain is; on between the turbo and the manifold , I have a gap and all the exhaust emissions going from there to in side the cabin. And I think that’s exactly were the smells of petrol came from, and the reason to said that is because when I change the dash board I realise the previous owner remove the calefaction system to leave room to place the turbo and he made a metal plate to cover the not very tidy work he make on the shelve. Therefore, he lives a gap on that plate of approximately 3cm so, big in of to receive emissions from there as well.
The other thing is up to 60 mils/hr. the car fills like louse some power and becomes slog, but if you take your fit a way from the accelerator, the car recover his power but not for more than 70 miles per hour, so results to frustrate.
Any way just to finish for the moment I would like to wish all of you nothing less than the best of every thing for this 2007.
Happy new year.

It sounds like your first job is to replace the manifold to cylinder head gasket to cure the leaking emissions, this will also make the engine run a lot better.
