Been searching for some 1275 press fit, flat top pistons and to no avail cant find some any where. I am building up my own 1275 fast road engine.

Spec is as follows:-

late a block,
1275gt nitrocarbonised crank,
lightened and ballanced 1275gt rods,
cooper s stage 3 head,
LCB & Free flow inlet manifold
HIFF 44 and k&N
fast road cam and a 1275 gt gear box

You must be able to get std flat top pistons does any one know where i can obtain these at a cost that wont break the bank also does any one see any floors in the spec of the engine and what power do you think it will produce.

Many thanks chris barkas

Why flat topped?

Your compression ratio will be too high.

For example flat topped with a 21.5cc standard head will give 13.5 to 1. Far too high.

Std pistons with 8cc dish with a 21.5 cc head will give you 10.4:1 ish.

All had been worked out, the head has been modified, checked the volume of the chambers and took the volume of the compressed head gasket to be 2cc will rework my calculations many thanks

I guess this is a NA engine. Its better to have dished pistons and less volume in the chamber than flat tops and larger chambers....

How big is your head? I'm using 10cc pistons 19cc head on my raceMini, and that's approx 11:1 with zero deck. That means your head must be in the high twenties CC. Strange...

On my latest 1071 build I cannot use flta tops ( even though I've just bought them, DOH) because they require a 26cc head. I've bought new 6cc Mega pistons and a 20cc head in stead. Much better.
