How long does your ball joint last?

They seem to last 4 month without being loose again.

i used genuine ones, installed them, with grinding paste to remove high spot, wiped off, and use lots of grease, and
i run 10" yokohama which give more strain on ball joint than 1960's tyres.

How long does your ball joints last? i find them annoying. i may want to do metro hub thingy, but if it has same ball joint design.. ugh..

are you definately sure you have genuine ones?

non gen ones last no time at all

Not normally a problem for me. I usually find that they bed in and need to be re-shimmed after a while but then they settle down and don't need touching for ages.

maybe mine need bedding in....

Watch out when buying from Minispares as i got 2 Original boxes but one contained a NON original ball joint kit..

Original are well worth the extra cost in my opinion as the quality is way better.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.

years and years. I've re-shimmed the top two once in the 10+ years I've had my mini.

When I built it up, I used the Genuine items.

Keep them well greased (every two months or more) is the key methinks.

Echo TurboDave, my grease gun is probably the best investment I have ever made.

yep grease is the key, i used to do 2500miles a month in my mini and greased the balljoints every other week. Even the non-gen set i had fitted did 15,000 miles before i had to reshim and i'd put it down to proper greasing.

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

Mine are 7 years old and are still as good as the day I installed them.

Car has done approx 100yds in that time when it moved garages....... :)

am past 50 still got ma ball joints, played rugby come hame like a farmer with 2 acres, come hame pist ma missus given me kicin down below;even slept in dog basket. been to hospital for a scan for lumps, most pleasing as nurse half my age, never ajusted my BALL JOINTS yet

Yearly they need sorting on mine, every MOT Same thing....fuck sake...

The ones I use aren't genuine ones, this year I spent ages trying to get them shimmed spot on, and ive greased them regularly aswell so I'll see what difference it has made soon, as the MOT's nearly due!

Ive always put the excessive wear down to lower ride height, and stiffer suspension, its intersting to see that it may not be the case though.
