Hi all, I had a quick search on here for details on digital dash displays to see if anyone was using them and how you got on etc, seems like a few of you were contemplating getting one, just wondered what you opted for and how your finding it.

Cheers.

Still contemplating here ......

Will probably go for one of these;

more details here

I think that will do everything I need it to do for sensible money and it comes with all the sensors etc.

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Of course if you want data loging etc. then your into the SPA stuff and similar but then you need a mortgage just to order the manual.

Cheers Roger, both look good but as you said the latter might be a bit small.. the only down side to the first imo is the scale of the rev counter not much will be used on a car..

i like the look of the acewell 3150

should work ok.....

same thing with the rev counter as it's meant for a bike as well.

Looks duller than a labour party political broadcast ... (hopefully more accurate!!!)

small display and I personaly prefer an anologue / needle for revs ....

Will do the job though and half the price of my choice....

Where did you mount the speedo pick up?

I am in several minds;

1) on one pot joint

2) make up a unit to sit on the end of the speedo drive output ...... (over thinking it again proberly)

3) Fit the pick-up into the case near the diff and hope the oil doesn't kill it.

No doubt 1) is easiest.

in the rear drum?

in the rear drum outer flange is easy/ drop some cap heads into the rim (easy on ally drums - I've used 5 equi-space on my gold car - works perfect)) - then wheelspin doesn't corrupt it - on the pot joints is good for traction control and launch control - but a non driven wheel is the best control signal. Then the sensor ( K series cam sensors are a good size)can be mounted up by the shock using the backplate bolts for a mounting bracket.

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

There are a few options available on the Acewell website on how to connect their speedos. They even sell an adapter that connects to a speedo cable drive.
