As is customary for these sort of events - I've loaded the start up vids for the SC demo cars engine - lots of hurdles to jump through with this one - different issues to my gold 16v one - which is typical really! got there in the end though and she looks like being a little sweetheart. Lots of jobs left but I'll get stuck in next week.

Firstly - major big thank you to Anthony (Antman) for putting in many hours on the build up of the car to this stage - his extra pair of hands and working skills has saved me a load of time/effort to get it to where it is now - cheers mate - owe you more than one. he's also the one behind the camera! - all fingers crossed for him finishing his own version of the K conversion off before the end of Jan. Three K headed minis in one town!

there are three vids, the start up - where the engine sounds like a 320° cammed mini running on three! an idling vid - this is after a few mins mapping and setting the closed loop lambda in operation - smooth! the final vid is from the other end of the car - pls excuse the excitable geordie!

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I'm guess from the title that it's a 1293 A/A+ engine with a BMW K100 head, but then I could be totally wrong.

EDIT: By the way it looks and sounds fantastic, out if interest where have you located the oil filler cap?

IIRC the BMW K100 was an 8 valve and the K1100 (both LT & RS) were 16 valve an I think the K1200 was a 16 valve as well (but I might be wrong on that last one)

Ah i see! Looks like a tempting build, i might consider this sort of engine for my next project, are the heads rare??

If you go round the specialist bike breakers the 8v heads aren't too hard to get hold of, my mate's managed to get hold of a few in the last couple of months, 16v heads aren't as common but they're not hens teeth either.

I've had a read through my mate's copy of the build guide (I would definitely recommend buying a copy if you're thing about this conversion) and John makes it sound very easy (well no harder than any other engine build).

Grrrr.... I can't look at it as You-Tube has been blocked on my works server (can't think why lol)!

I have seen the mini before though, and have an imagination, so can picture this working nicely :)

John - there is a forum somewhere called the 'clubman estate register' - you might want to post it on that aswell :)

they've found you out then Dave!

the engine is a 1293 A+ base unit with a K100 8v twin cam head (std porting + cams), bmw throttle bodies, the rest is SC specific components. We've built it up as "std" spec so that we can offer a fully mapped ecu to work with this spec in the near future.

cheers Jim - hos yours going?

pickmeup - 1460/1480 with a flowed out 8v head - think of the torque! never mind the power, I may know someone whom could help with proper big journal stroker crank/rods as well!
