Im thinking of getting a respray as the last time it was done it was only cellulose (spelling?), and the dreaded rust is creeping back.

£700 inside and out. no prep done by me. well all the rust was gone and it was all solid and generally filled, but certainly not ready for painting.

That's very cheap. I paid £2000 for an outside and door gap only job on my golf. |

700 isn't bad for the complete car, mine has just started rusting round the bottom of the front window and the front valance where the bumper mounts on, shouldn't take too much to do apart from a bit of flatting/scotching up.

I paid £1200 for my car when it was done. I took it down to bare metal and then he filled it and finished off my welding. Before the painting. Was a very good job but i failed to rustproof enough and its starting to come through again. |

£1000 for inside and out with prep included. All welding up was already done though. It's gonna cost me £2.5-3k for a BIG car in two tone though through someone else (this guy is MUCH better and it is a bigger job). On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

you get what you pay for Indeed! My £1000 got me a load of runs and orange peel and after 2 years the joins between wings, scuttle and fron panel are blistering nicely. Hence why I'm using someone else fot my next car. On 7th Nov, 2008 Nic said:

matty, there is a firm up in newcastle they would do 700 inside and out (if you strip it right down obviously) and theyare PRO'S they did the red car in my sig. Premier coachworks, Heaton, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Nowt wrong with using Celly paint though. I have heard you can put a clear hardener laquer type coat on after and it looks nice and shiny also protects the paint, and works out cheaper than 2pac.

have a go yourself, i did and im well happy! no runs, no orange peel etc. Most people come back after have a car done by someone else with something they are not happy with, if your doing the job you just correct any blemishes by doing it again.

if you can do it yourself then try it, its cost me around 200 to do each of my minis with buying the paint and doing the prep, I have heard of someone in the bristol area who will spray a mini for 200 if you do the prep |

Certainly could Nic.....If you can't get hold of an air feed mask for christ sake borrow mine. Paint can do you you some serious harm and the only way to be safe is a separate comp running an air feed from a clean air supply. Every day is a school day ...........

I have done a few myself, but ts a love/hate relationship, Its a hell of a lot of work but if you use the cash to buy good quality paints, epoxy, two pack and proper masks etc. it wont blister through. Like was said before if its not great you can always rub it back and shoot it again. I'd say my jobs are better than 80-90% of the "professional" jobs I see, but be warned you will get to know every liitle blemish on the car and it drives you crazy... Other people cant understand what you are on about. website:- http://www.terryhunt.co.uk
