I think the pump on the mpi has a better flow rate if my memory serves me right

I am sure that others who have used MPi tanks might be in a better position to comment but I am sure the pumps are the same and the system pressures and flow rates were controled by the regulator at the injector rail.

More than happy if anybody can prove me wrong but I hav enever know anybody run out of juice with an SPi tank.

I am led to believe that the MPi system runs at 3 bar and the SPi, 1 bar fuel pressure.

The pumps are different - I can't believe that Rover would have fitted a 3 bar pump to the SPi, so you are limted with the SPi.

I think that the SPi will be OK up to 15 psi ish boost, any higher then you may be stressing the pump.

I'm using an SPi tank with a 3 bar Fiesta pump. Took about 2 hours to convert - easy job.

Axel, post up details of the conversion please.

It's not the pumps that set the pressure, it's the regulator. There has to be both a pressure and flow overhead for the regulator to work and it is usually quite a bit as for the regulator to work after years of neglect.

We normally over spec feed pump requirements by about 100% to be sure that even if the reg starts playing up our delicate injectors are not starved as that will kill them.

True, but three times the design pressure will draw three times the rated amps, which I'm sure will not work for long.

As for fitting the Fiesta pump, I didn't take any photos, but basically cut off the old pump, solder ferrule to pipe, fit pump with hose clip. Fit Fiesta connector by jointing wires and seal with shrink fit.

Will look at that Axel, thanks.

The design pressure will be the two or three times one, not the "rated" one as you HAVE to make sure things are never run anywhere near what they can do or else you'll find some people somehow exceed that and your warranty returns wipe out all your profit .... trust me, this happens ask Lucas .... LOL!!!!!
