Hello just wondering if anyone has used a cage from these guys and what the quality is like, they say the cages are not technically msa certified but what is involved in getting a certificate? cheers |

Also i think but i could be wrong that quite a lot of the mini 7 racers use his kit so they must have a certificate. Obviously it depends on the cage you seleced though. |

Ah its probabably to keep the cost down, thats good to know though cheers. With these cages do you have to box them in at the feet or are they made to weld straight to the floor? |

I think i remember jim saying he boxed them in so he could weld the cage to the roof first, but i dont see how they couldn't make a weld in cage the same dimensions as a bolt in. Oh and jim how the hell you painted your cage is beyond me lol. |

Oh and jim how the hell you painted your cage is beyond me lol. These weld in cages are design to sit on boxes which are welded in - so the cage is tacked into place whilst resting on the boxes. The boxes are removed allowing the cage to drop by 4 inches so the bars can be seam welded at the top. The cage is then raised back up put onto the boxes and welded into the car/floor On 5th Sep, 2011 Vegard said:

Not sure how Jim painted his cage but in the past I have painted the cage first (masking the weld joints), fitted in the car, welded up, masked around the joints adn sprayed the joints up, anywhere you can't get a gun you won't be able to see so a brush finish is fine. Every day is a school day ...........

As has been said I used a fabricage kit for the base for my cage, (Although only the main hoop, front legs and the bit which goes over the windscreen) the rest endaf made. http://www.owensfabrication.com
