Quite cheap but they didnt want to tell me any info on how they balanced their turbos and the guy was a bit of an arse, on the other hand turbo technics were very good and are proven, they cost a bit more though. Just my 2p's worth :)

I'm looking at getting the turbo better than standard, just so I have something to play with :)

I bought a turbine shaft from them a few years ago and had a look around their facility. They have got a VSR to balance turbos and seemed quite helpful when I visited and competitively priced.

TD are one of the bigest turbo guys in the UK.

I wouldnt worry about their quality. It will be good.

Or speak to Andy at AET Turbos near York.

I'm not doubting their work, just wondering if the're worth the money :)

Although my turbo has been rebuilt by Avonbar (TBC from the owner)

I'm aiming for around 150-170bhp, and I want the most reliable turbo possable, and something that can cope with that sort of power....

I also want a free spinning turbo, with proper bearings etc

I may be wrong, but I would hazard a guess, that Avonbar outsource turbo work ??

Balancing equipment aint cheap. Unless of course they do a huge number of rebuilds.

I know that most turbo sellers, do use a turbo specialist for their builds/rebuilds.

proper bearings, or oil journal bearings lol

The compressor cover is different, so not strictly speaking.

You could get some of the turbo people, to re-profile the cover of the metro compressor, so that it fits onto the RST turbo.

You would also have to decide whether to keep the standard Metro Turbine housing, or opt for the larger RST turbine housing.

I just asked for a metro t3 with a 0.36 exhaust housing and they said that it'd be fine no extra cost etc, i assume this will work?

A/R numbers I am still trying to learn atm!

I'll what its like when I get it, if its in good fettle and is rebuilt, then I'll leave it how it is... no point in fixing if it isn't broken!

I think all that would do, is make a metro laggier.

It may help a little at the top end though, as it will be less restrictive.

I think the regular Metro housing is a 0.28 ?

It a straightforward swap, no special tools required. Ideally its a larger compressor you want though, not a turbine housing.

I thought most people upgraded to the escort size exhaust housing as the original is a bit restrictive, what size compressor would you suggest? or should we invest in a more modern turbo like the new garrett range?

now your talking sense......

I know I used a 0.36 turbine housing with a 4x4 cossie compressor, inside a modified metro compressor cover.

It was laggy, but not so much that it bothered me. With higher compression and better ignition control, it would defo feel better down low that my old car.

A more modern unit would defo be worthwhile, but its also going to be more hassle to fit.
