"Currently cars have to have been constructed before a set date - the 1st January 1973 to be eligible for historic car tax exemption. We the undersigned would like the date to be move as it has been fixed for a number of years. A number of cars which were built in British factories are becoming few and far between and would like the Government to help preserve these cars by offering and extension on the current exemption date."

A friend of mine showed me this, not sure how successful it will be after all it would mean less money to the government but its worth a try for 2mins of your life. Im sure if the date moved, quite a few people on here would be pleased.

I think it's unlikely they will go for this mainly because of the comparative lack of numbers who feel strongly about it.

The road charging on stands a very good chance as almost everybdy in the country is effected by that one. If they tried to bring that in people would be up in arms blocking motorways and city centres up and down the nation. It would be very easy to litterally bring the country to a complete stand still.
Ultimately it s also an election looser!!!

This one will effect so few people comparatively that they will just ignor it.
After all anybody with enough intellegence to keep a classic car on the roads won't be dumb enough to vote for labour anyway!!!!!

As far as I'm concerned, every petition should be ignored, which is why I never sign any, ever.

As for this campain, I have already upset a few people on Minifinity. It's pointless. The apparent idae is that it'll save classic cars that are rapidly dissapearing, this is bollocks. All it'll save is a few hundred quid for those people who drive an older car. IMO if you want to drive a car on the road you have to pay the tax.

Either way, for the sake of £150 (very litttle comapred to running a car for a year) I wouldn't swap my Subaru for an Ital.
