Turbo Mini Forums

The idea with this post is that you type in the exact spelling of the persons username (including spaces, underscores, whatever) and you can then state if the sale was succesful in the same message.

The purpose of this is so using the 'search' link above, you can put a certain persons username in the search section, ticking the 'post body and selecting the 'for sale' section - and you can find out about your buyer or seller from others....

However, do not take this as gospel. We have had uscrupulous folks take advantage of TM before. So take a look at the person also making the reccomendation. If it just seems to be 'Jonny one post' stating how good seller 'x' is, then be VERY suspicious.

Take a look at the post count of the seller aswell. If he has less than 100/200 posts, you might want to be cautious. For folks who've been here years and have posts in the thousands (like Giallofly, Tom Fenton, AlexB, etc) - you can be pretty sure that they are genuine and you won't be messed around.

Bad Seller, minit3 or mettyturbo or whatever he wants to be know as now. Bought a carb over a month ago, no carb and no response at all from Lee. Trying to claim back my money through paypal at the mo, dont hold out much hope. I know lots and lots of others have had trouble with him.

well i have only really dealt with established members on here but i'll start the list off just to get things rolling

Good sellers! ...

Jimster - Bought engine off him, very friendly, gave good directions etc etc

turbo hogster - done some work on my head (no innuendo please), and sold me a cam. Also was kind enough to take me for my first drive in a turbo mini!

giallofly - sold me a boost gauge, posted it very quick and it was well packaged :)

i am also hoping that Lardyforehead is a good seller as i am purchasing some brake calipers off him :) will confirm this if/when they arrive :p

More work for alex maybe but how about a feedback rating for each member as part of there profile. If you sell an item to some one then they can give you feedback ebay style.

This is a good idea for sure. I don't know if it will complicate things... but would it be worth putting this in the 'members only section'?

Trouble is - that doesn't help members who've been scammed by current board members who've built up enough numbers to 'appear' to be trustworthy, but are FAR from it...

Buyer feedback ratings suck for a site like this. All some BAC has to do is create a few new bogus usernames and give himself good feedback. It's more usefull to see WHO is giving the feedback IME. I believe the way this is laid out will work - and be no more work for AlexB (who already does a lot as-is).
Caveat emptor is the key however.... :)

fastcarl- bought some wheels, faultless transaction.

dan- don't know if he is still on here but I bought a mirage manifold off him and he is well recommended.

Dave it would be quite easy to show who is giving them the feed back, simply weight it by trusted users, therefore if some with a high post count plus is in the trusted memer list then they get a higher score. Also you can see in the users profile all the people they have sold items to.

Bad seller.
SAUBER300 (paid 250 expecting full engine as advertised on ebay) drove for 9 hour round trip. got to his house and there was no gearbox, trans case, i was compensated with a mangled rs turbo intercooler. (this was when i first started with the turbo scene and didnt know about this site) he knew i was green as grass.....got home Mark had a look at it, it was not a turbo engine, and the turbo was goosed....he later said he would come and collect the bits, but at that point i had already stripped it down and started to work on the block.

long story....but beware i have heard many other members here have fallen foul of him.
