I'm amassing parts for fitting megajolt and i've noticed that the wiring i got from the scrappies is all unsheilded.

Do i really need to use shielded cable and if so any ideas where i can get it? I've googled it every way i can think of but havent come up with anything useful.

Thanks
Calum

Any reason why not?

no, you can use that, it will get much neater if you only have the correct number of wires inside the cable though. But that may have only the two you need?

It's just the VR sensor and the PIP and SAW to connect in shielded I believe, so should be OK with a couple of lengths of two core.

yes, sorry, may have typed a bit fast there. A two core is what you want, is the one on Ebay a two core? in that case its fully useable. If its 5 core it will still be useable, but not neat!

There is a lot of talk about shielding the VR and PIP and SAW cables. If you can then it is worth it. However I have run my car without for a couple of years now with no problems. Better safe than sorry though.

Its not quite the same...

The Crank Position Sensor is an inductive sensor (generates a voltage through electromagnetic induction). As such the voltages can be quite high which can lead to Radio Frequency interference.

Its not a major problem, but ECUs can be easily confused (ghost signals) if the wires run next to each other etc.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Also, only ground the shield at one end, otherwise it becomes a conductor rather than a drain.

This just arrived in the post. Only ordered it on Sunday.

Less than £10 for 10 metres - enough for three cars.

And it looks the mutts nuts.

If I'm careful how I cut it up, I may even be able to use the connectors.
