Has anyone got a Turbo type Dellorto carb?
If so I would like to know what was used for the inlet restrictor, is it just a reducer fitted into the bellmouth?
Some pics and dimensions would be great if that's possible.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Dave

Is there much advantage in using a Dellorto carb as opposed to an SU with a turbo?

Don't know Matty.
I am just giving things a bit of thought at present.
As the engine will be for a hillclimb car I was considering the use of a Weber 45 DCOE. The logic being that this would be the carb of choice over a single SU if the engine were N/A so why not consider it.
Would any of you knowledgable turbo experts care to comment on the practcality of this?

Jukka has commented many times - that it isn't worth it for the effort IIRC. And the sig line under his name suggests he is well worth listening to.

Dave, I have read the past posts but there was very little recent info ( all 1 year plus old)
Just wondered if anyone had anything recent to add.

I personally am of the opinion that whilst carbs work, the future of hi output is with electronic injection. Hence, there is little point in wasting time and money on a new carb setup; expecially as the siamese code is gettign closer.

Jukka knows his stuff, and even he struggled to get it all as it should be.

Strikes me that the SU should be employed as a unit that is easy to set up and work, until the time that injection replaces it - ie bypass somethign that will be a lot of work, and still not give all that the 'ultimate' target will inevitably be.

Ive used DCOE's on turbo cars before. The work fine, but can take a while to setup.

One aspect for a blown carb car, DONT oversize the carb. If anything, it usually need downsized, in order to maintain airspeed so its easier to get it to lift the extra fuel required.

When an SU works pretty damn well....you really do need to consider if it is worth the hassle of switching. Especially when DCOE's etc cost so much these days.

That extra money would be better spent on a turbocharger.

Of course, if EFI can be made to work, then it would be the preferred option...

speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will
