Hi,
I have read several comments on this forum regarding window weight saving and the problems assoiciated with using plastics!!

I have the soluition for you!!
The best materias to use is Polycarbonate (Lexan or Mackrolon) it is available in 3.0mm/ 4.0mm/5.0mm thickness and is approx HALF the weight of glass.

There is a company "Panel Graphic Limited" whom can supply the polycarbonate and apply clear a abrasion risistant coating to one side or both (OPTIGUARD) it will enable the window to perform just like glass!

info can be obtained from http://www.displaywindows.com this coating and material is used by many raceing teams and can be found on the DBR9 Aston Martin for a set of side windows you are looking at around 80 quid ish...

I hope this helps and are happy to answer any questions!

Steve

B&Q sell clear plastic for windows. different thickness available and different size sheets

it may not have a fancy tint but it would work and the most expensive sheet is £50

Please do not buy anything except Polycarbonate! the very cheap stryine materials sold in B&Q are dangerous as they have zero impact risistance and will shatter into small pices, most rally/race clubs will not allow this type of material!

Polycarbonate with a abraision risistant coating is very safe! and is being used in main stream car production.

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

i got my windows from http://plastics4performance.co.uk

they do lexan windows with that anti scratch coating on. Ive had a set in my car, using them as wind up windows for about 1.5 yrs without a problem

theyre 4mm thick

Do NOT use the perspex from a diy-it is not the same and will crack without any effort (i.e. did anyone notice my rear window at avon...)

I payed about £120 for the back three, in poly

I'm looking at PC windows with electric window kit. Saves a shit load of weight on the glass and winder mech and you still retain the original window operation. I like the stealth look of it that way *happy*

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
