Hi all,

Planning to go turbo on a 998 with a 12G295 head, I am contemplating the differcent carb options that I have.
I am not in the mood for injection already as it is more expensive than the carb (each of wich I happen to own already).

Drawbacks on the GT Turbo card is that it is small (big enough for 120 bhp on a 1400 engine though) and will need a self made inlet.

Against the Hif 44 is that it is much too big for a 998 in NA form and I assume it won't help with any sort of turbo lag either.

Thanks for your participation

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

if a R5 carb is so small, how do they get round it when they tune them to silly bhp?

I was under the impression they didnt do a lot to get 200bhp (ish)

R5 GTT is 32 mm indeed but I must had that the butterfly assembly is quite slim

Can't really compare a constant displacement carb to a down draft style carb choke size for choke size.

Most of the time a HIF44 isn't up at it's max lift so the effective choke size is much smaller. That is the reason why the HIF is one of the nicest carbs on the market to drive. My 1380 NA motor is pushing out 122BHP on a HIF and if it wasn't for the clockwork dizzy it'd pull from no revs and has awesome throttle response and gives great economy when required. Show me another carb that can do that ..... (I need to change to MegaJolt .....)

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
