NA 998 tweaks plz, my car is running like a bag'o'spanners

i have a a+ 998 with a stage one kit thats in my car untill i've built the turbo engine,

what i want to know is, what little tweeks can i do with say the plug gap/timing/vacum advance/retard, tappet gaps/mixture etc to make it run a little better/quicker, you know little things i can do over the weekend to make it a lil nicer to drive, maybe some cheats that the works teams did back in the day to get a little more poke!

i have it all to factory a+998 settings at the moment as per the hanyes manual with all new ignition components

the Search-section on this forum is blummin superb & simple to use, unlike some other forums, without the search-section & the help of this bunch of chaps on here i'll never be able to !!!Start the day with a 998cc turbo!!! :) i'm getting closer though!

Slap a lovelly Megajolt on, then you can use it for the turbo when you are done with the 998, will make it oh so much better

Megajolt seems to be the way forward ... plus an RR setup if your pocket is feeling up to it.

Other than that try advancing the timing until you get pinking on load then back it off (for god sake don't leave it there!!!) .......

You should be able to get a feel for the fueling by tweeking then driving then tweeking etc. Not a great way forward as most of the needles supplied with stg1 kits are on the conservative side to say the least!

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

what i did wiht mine (was a good while back so dont quote me) was fitted a HIF38, stage 1 kit, 12G940 (block pocketed in situ) and advanced the igniton to about 12 degrees at 1krpm and filed ~1mm off the advance stop's inside the distributor to give me much more advance up top (this was cause i discovered if i ran around 20deg@1k it would pul llike a tril up top)
all this needed super unleaded not to pink but went much better than any of the local 1275's even whilst dragging my fat bodykit, soundsystem and 13*7's along .. :)
