Im now in the process of building my engine, and keeping it cool is causing me some head scratching. I have read loads of old threads on cooling etc, and found there to be a little conflict in opinion of what is need, so can you let me know if this is correct.

Im thinking of running the following.
Mini spares super 2 core rad
High capcity water pump (large cast impella, also mod to the block as per vizzard)
Larger water pump pully (4 1/2" I believe to avoid cavitation)
Std yellow fan blade
My head has no bypass take off so Ill be drilling some 1/8" holes to act as one
Std mini thermostat housing with 82oC stat
I will be running a heater matrix and picking up th water cooled core of the T2.
Which is flow and return for the heater take off, is the hot water taken from the left hand side of the block then returned to the take off on the bottem rad hose?
Any help and advise greatfully recieved.
Thanks
Shane.

That all sounds right,

The only thing i'd do different is use the small water pump pully, really the large ones are meant for higher reving engines, and as a turbo make its power lower down...

although i may be worth it for a track car.

The water pump pully is the the thing I found most indecision with, with people having good reasons for which one to use but no final desision on which should be used. I have both stashed away so sourcing one is not a problem. What are the majority using.
Still unsure which end of the engine the water supply comes out of, any thoughts?

the water comes out the flywheel end and back into the bottom hose like you said.

Thanks mini13, sounds stupid but the pipes would run from flywheel end into the turbo core to the heater then to the bottom hose? Is it a problem that the turbo core will be seeing heated water, or will this still keep the core at a lower temp than it would be without water flow?

now thats a good question!!

In my opinion i wouldn't want water thats too cold going into the turbo centre core, so i'd run it from the flywheel end into the turbo, then make use of this heat to heat the inside of the car.

on my car, ill be running a lecy pump in the heater line to push extra water iff needed at tickover and after shutdown.

That is the reason I wasputting the turbo before the heater,
Thanks again
Shane.
