Re installing Zone alarm.

Hi I've been running zone alarm for years now with out any problems.

But I had a programme that it would let me use and In the settings that allows access didn't seem to work, so I thought I'd uninstall it and start again, and I can them set up all the accesses again, now when I try to install zone alarm the box below keeps popping up, it means nothing to me, so if you know what I have to do to sort it that would be great.

TrueVector is the technology underlying ZoneAlarm. A service is a program in Windows NT/2000/XP that runs in the background.

Looks like an old version of ZoneAlarm is running and the new install program can't stop it to allow the update.

As ZoneAlarm was previously used try the Add/Remove Programs to delete it. This should sort it.

Then just reinstall the latest version.

If that fails you can Open the Control Panel, Administrative Services, Tools.

Right click on TrueVector. Then stop it and try installing the new ZoneAlarm.

Bugger it's still doing it, and after i removed it in Add/Remove.

I looked in Control Panel, Administrative Services, Tools, and there was no sign of the TrueVector.

Not good.. difficult to say without being at your PC, but im sure that the old file is still there somewhere..

could be still in the C:/windows/system32 directory if it is you could try to delete the ZoneLabs folder.

or you could just install AVG. I have found this very good..

I had the same problem with zone alarm after it said my version was out of date and an update was needed. After about a week of searching the internet and trying to get round it, i had got nowhere. In the end i gave up as the help i was getting seemed to be too complicated for me.

sorry, probably not what you want to hear but i found it easier to give in and find a new firewall.
