LOL .. but possibly a valid one!!

I was looking in a Matiz for the alternator and it took me a good 10 minutes of crawling around in the mud to find where, and how, it would have been mounted if somebody hadn't beaten me to it......

LOL

If it's any help the following should help.

locate the alternator belt tension bolt and slaken (pig of a job). Undo mounting bolts (12mm IIRC). These are a right royal pain in the bum as you can't really swing a spanner in there.
Undo tension bolt completly.

Remove alternator and make sure you hook the belt over the alternator mount ... if it drops you'll have fun getting it back onto the pulleys.

On the car I have looked at it doesn't look like there should be any cover over the alternator and it is located at the upper driverside rear of the engine bay.

Hope that helps!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

So Roger I take it that means you've decided to go with the Matiz alternator now!

Did you get hold of one in the end?

*wink*

More chance of growing an extra leg than finding a plug .... LOL .... unless it's a general motors standard of course ...
