Rear camber brackets should be obvious, they just replace the standard radius arm bracket.

The pin in the front top arm just knocks out. Simple.

is the camber bracket just removed by the 4 bolts & the big nut on the end of the radious arm, ie i can fit them without removing the arms or subframe

my shock pins wont move! would it be ok to apply some heat with a small blow torch??? & if the shear i presume i could drill them out & fit new pins! worst case scenario, ta muchly

Yes to all of that.

Try heating and then twisting the pins in the top arn, I guess they are just rusted in.

i ask because i'm having a root around in my garage & found most of my more performance oriatated parts from a previous project, so thought, bugger it, these will go on this lil mini daily driver i have, the one that'll be the 998 turbo!!! chassis & braking prep is nearly done when these are fitted so its engine time then *surprised*)

i'm a little worried over the fitting of the rear camber brackets,
i have the type with the allen key bolts, are these any good??? as i bought them from min-its about 6 yrs ago, they are in un-used good order, no corrosion!

its my daily driver so should i stick with the standard settings or add a bit of negative camber, i do enjoy cornering hard & the mini to feel like its glued to the black stuff

I personally have -0.5 on the rear of my daily driver. standard is usually slightly positive. so setting it to zero as aminimum is a good idea.

would you say its worth the extra -0.5, i did notice a massive differance in my handling when i lowered & fitted -1.5 degree camber arms, would -1 degree on the back be to much for a daily driver?

i'm going to fit the brackets this weekend i think *surprised*)

probobly do the bumpstops too if the shock pins come out ok

my brackets are in that gold zinc coated finish, should i paint them chaps ??? i've had that goldy zinc coating go naff & rust on other parts

These don't do toe then? This makes the biggest difference getting the car square.

i'm not 100% sure, i think they have 2 allen bolts for camber adjustment scruffy!

is the toe in/out achived buy the elongated mounting holes of the bracket, i'm probobly best to pop a pic of them up do you think???

i've heard you are quite niffty on the handling front scruffy, i'd like the car sitting at an optimum for the road/track use, ie slightly comprimised on the road but good on track! i'm reading an article in a mag at the mo on camber/caster/toe in/out, kingpin inclination etc etc, suffice to say, i'm not that clued up yet :) but every little helps they say!!!

They sound like the ones I have, also from Min-Its. They don't do toe directly, you have to shim them off the subframe for that the same way Rover did when it stopped being bothered about making decent rear sbframes.

I have used the camber toe plates in the past and found the only way to stop them adjusting themselves is that once they are set up weld the buggers up!!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I have got the ones from Minispares with the ridged plates to stop them moving once fixed.

It is about time someone made some decent ones!
The Minispares ones are a bit sh*g nasty and have to be trimmed on most cars (Axel's being the exception) but the other two cars I set up with Minispares ones had to be - the KAD ones are nice but need an adjuster otherwise you loose where you are with them!

I really had do modify my MS ones too. Even Rich as MS North admitted they were shit and he uded the KAD ones.

I also have the KAD ones now, and I agree that they are a pain to set up.

Also, I feel that the ridges run the wrong way. In my mind there is much more force trying to change the toe than the camber when cornering. In fact one of mie moved (not sure if this was cause by or the cause of my accident).

Do KAD specify a torque for the radius arm nuts? might ask them if no-one knows.

Wil .. in the past have always had to set the toe and camber then weld them up so they don't move!

Something I am going to try is to weld some offcuts either side of the centre plate to effectively fix the toe and still maintain camber adjusment capability.

Might be worth a try.

I'd say it was the cause of the accident by the way .... takes away the option of driver error!!! *wink*

To be fair I went of forwards!! I was really on it, got a perfet apex and just got my toe down too early. Problem is at shellsley, 4 or 5 inches wide and you hit something.

Not seen those before. But yes, they appear to be camber only.

i got them from min-its about 5-6 yrs ago, could they be modded so the toe-in/out can be adjusted?

They're the same as mine, toe can be set by using shims as said above. I think KC sells shims for rear camber brackets on his site but they're easily made from sheet or old oil/waxoyl tins!

Camber only, same ones I use and trust (had very bad experiences with toe adjustable ones as I said).

Shims are available, so is shim material to get it spot on. I must admit that I fit the thickest shim, measure and grind to get it exactly right if it's not one of the available thicknesses.
