Well I had a go at getting the imp running today, all did not go to plan though.

I got everything prepped and the filled it with oil, got a nice even 60psi at cranking, excellent.

I plumbed in the fuel lines and put a couple of liters of fresh unleaded, switched on the pump and ive got a steady 42psi with no leaks, ace!

I joined everything up electrickery wise, and plugged in the ECU, first problem, something was wrong and I opened up over 200 megatune files in a few seconds, control alt delete that suka to get it to stop. I had a play and got it to stop that.
It connected up to the ECU ok but air and coolant temps were a little off, coolant showing over 200 degrees C, and inlet air at absolute zero.
Being megasquirt you have to calibrate sensors so the ECU knows the resistance curve, this is what megatherm is for. So I did my test with the multimeter, got the figures and sent them back to the ECU.

This is where it gets bad, as I am allergic to programming, my head dosent work that way. All mechanical things just work in my head, but programming makes me get that microsoft general error message in my brain, unfortunatly I don't have a control alt delete function :(

I have no idea how to change any of the programming that needs doing, all of the information is on the website, but its plain jibberish to me, I cant get any of it to work.

To top it off now the computer says its connected to the ECU but shows no readings for pressure, temperatures, RPM nothing :( cocking ballcks >:(

It does fire, but it only appears that I am getting sparks to two cylinders too.

This is all too much for me guys :-[

hope others had a better day than me

dont do it, debt is rubbish.

Go out and get something old, or at least enough to remove depreciation!

First thing first. What version of megasquirt and megatune are you running?

Ive got a V2.2 ECU, with EDIS already on it apparently.

Well that means that you are using the Extra code then, which at least I have some experiance with.

I think evolotion has a great idea with the .msq file. If you could sen me a copy of that to# and I can run it on my stimulator and see if you have any obvious problems.

I want one BUT my mate says they are for girls. He drives a '67 Mustang fastback (complete Bullit replica) so I guess it is compared to that. Still would though, nice and light and ripe for tuning.

no i didnt buy it! i was seriously thinking about it, but the demonstrator wasnt there to try, so i came away and later in the evening realised not to be so stupid, plus i also noticed the exhaust is in the way of a tow bar

it was an astra vxr, my first question was "can you tell me what the towing capacity is on one of these"

No not a Disastra! I think the very ugly but still 5 cylinder ST Focus would nearly tempt me more. What £17k for the poor mans model? Plus it's not French. Get a VW Diesel for goodness sake! 55mpg and tow worthy.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

I'm still trying to sort a towbar for the Focus RS! apparently they dont do one as its not rated for towing, i bet the astra is the same.

Cant wait to hear the imp running *smiley*

Im unsure of how to get the files working from that, or where they need to go??

It fires now, but dosent run yet, getting close *happy*
