Got all my megajolt stuff installed but i'm not having any luck getting it running and i'm a bit stuck on what to try next.

The vr sensor is definetly positioned right and is giving an ac signal whilst cranking. Stronger signal while using jump leads so i'm assuming it's going by engine speed and working ok?

Megajolt is currently disconnected, so it's nothing to do with that or it's wiring.

Edis is getting a good earth and good power, all pins and connections are right. Have tried 2 different edis units aswell.

Coil pack is getting 12v and the wires between it and the edis showed slight power whilst cranking.

I've not been able to get a spark at all, i'm planning on picking up another coil pack tomorrow and trying it but past that i'm stumped.

Any other ideas about things to check or things i might have got wrong?

Thanks
Calum

If the crank sensor is wired the wrong way you will not get a spark so could be worth swapping the wires on that.

Tried that one aswell, made no difference.

Missed the point about there being slight power whilst cranking, i run the coil pack, edis and megajolt all off the old 12v coil terminal (with fuses for each). I made the mistake of checking a fuse box terminal had 12v ignition live and running off this but power was not enough while cranking.

Tried it this monring with power coming straight off the main battery terminal and it made no difference.

Heres hoping a different coil pack makes all the difference.

Did you earth the coil pack??

In what way? theres only the 3 connections, is it supposed to be earthed through it's mountings?

Never worked on ignition that wasn't points and dizzy so i'm strugling with this fault finding lark.

I've also tried another coil pack now and it was no different.

Been looking into wiring diagrams etc, the coil pack and edis have both been swapped about and the crank sensor is new, so by my reckoning it has to be wiring related.

Looking at the various diagrams, i dont have a capacitor in the power supply line and one diagram shows pin4 of the edis connected to the megajolt. The other doesnt show the pin being used at all.

Are these likely to be relevant at all?

the only other thing i can think of is that the vr sensor is wrong but i measured the gap at between 0.5-1mm and the missing tooth is definetly within a couple of degrees of correct.

I'm starting to get really fed up with this so any help is much appreciated

Pin 4 on the edis is not needed. This diagram is correct apart from the earthing of the screened cables is not required, Just need to be connected to pin 7.

bit of a long shot but did you mention in the other thread that you were using the magnetti sensor? does this one definately work with the EDIS stuff?
Cant see it being a problem but might be worth a look?

If it were me, I would run a couple of wires direct from the starter (battery connection), one to supply coil one to EDIS (forget about the MJ for now just get a spark on from the EDIS), at least now you know there's a definate 12V. (meter it out if need be whilst cranking on both the coil and EDIS)!

Continuety check wires from EDIS to Coil, Check positions are correct, Check earth continuety from EDIS to Battery.

Check wires on VR are correct.

If all else fails....By the sound of things you have a spare EDIS and coil pack. So wire them up off the car, (doesn't need to be neat) "bogde" some wires to power it off starter/ earth it etc?

It wouldn't take more than 30mins to wire up I wouldn't of thought!
