Hey guys long time no post lol. I have recently been looking at options to get my car back on the road, or at least my turbo engine in some sort of mini! I have found this clubman on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...bayphotohosting

But am really unsure as to wether i should look into it further.
From the auction what do you guys think?

How much do you think its worth?

Is the rust under the driverside door a huge job, how much would it cost to be fixed by someone?

I have asked the seller some questions about the rest of the car's condition and await an answer as to what needs welding for the MOT.

OR

On the other hand i have my origional plan, which was to fix up my shell and put the turbo engine in that. But my shell needs work doing also:

(hole at the other end of the scuttle)

(hole above air vent looking out through the hole in the end of the scuttle!!!!)

My car also needs new brake lines, flip front and loom.

***Does anyone know how hard/how much it will cost someone to fix all this for me, and knowing a rough price will be really helpfull***

So really i have two options, to stick with my shell and get it fxed up and put the turbo in sometime during the summer when im home from uni...

...or to try and win that clubman (with my max budget of £800 ish), get the rust sorted and any welding, get the MOT and run the car until ive finished building my turbo and put that in, selling on the 998 engine from the clubman.

Im really stuck as to what option to take, and im unsure on how much my original car would cost to fix up, so my main questions are:
1. How much is the clubman worth,
2.How much will it cost me to fix up roughly for the MOT, and
3. Is it worth sticking with the one i already have and fix the body, roughly how much would that cost to do?

Any ideas/views will be really helpfull!!

Isle of Man

if you fit a flip front to it, fixing the scuttles a doddle and you wont have to put all the other panels back...

Sound advice guys, i myself dont have a welder or the skills to weld a panel yet. So any idea of a rough price it would cost a bodyshop to weld in a new scuttle, minus the paint etc cos i can do that?

a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

depends on how much prep is needed rich, welders can t weld new steel onto rust *wink* if you find a body shop tell them what you are wanting to do and seek and vice so you can pretty much prep the shell for them ie cut out the rotten bits carefully and clean all the surfaces to be welded thatway they spend less time on the job = cheaper for ya wallet :)

Yeah that sounds a good idea, as they obviously charge by the hour! I can rub everything down and treat it all, take the windscreen out etc and i already have stripped the interior so basically its just a case of them cutting off the old scuttle and welding a new one on depending on if i cut it off first or not.

Not sure what to do about spraying though, i might just leave it without paint so can get my flip front done at the same time after the car is mot'd.

Is it hard for bodyshops to match the colours? As in can they match my flip front and scuttle to the rest of the car?
