Blurb below copied from Peugeot statto forums. Someone on here might be interested. Tidy economical runaround, I personally have known this car for nearly 3 years and know it is a good one.
As title I have on offer for sale a 1998 R registered Phase 2 306 D Turbo 3 door.
It is finished in the deep blue/purpley colour, I think it is Nile Blue but I am open to correction, the paint code is MOGQ.
The car has belonged for the last few years to a customer of mine, I have done servicing and work required to keep it in good order for him.
Off the top of my head in the last couple of years in addition to routine servicing I have fitted new brake discs and pads, it has had the cambelt changed approx 10k ago, and also a replacement radiator in November last year.
There is lots of service history and bills with the car, including all the MOT's from new. It has an MOT certificate expiring at the end of February (26th I think) 2008. It also is taxed until the end of June. I have the logbook for the car in my possession.
The reason I acquired the car was due to a brake master cylinder failure recently. Unfortunately at the time the car was 150miles from the owners house, and he only had basic RAC cover, and so the car was taken to the nearest Peugeot main dealer. As you can imagine, they quoted him over £1000 to replace virtually the entire braking system on the vehicle. As he had no way of transporting the vehicle back to Yorkshire, he offered to sell me the vehicle for parts or repair on the condition that I settled the inspection bill at the Peugeot dealer and arranged for the car to be transported.
I have therefore now fitted a new brake master cylinder, and fully inspected the braking system, including a pressure test of calipers and rear wheel cylinders. These all passed and checked out fine. The flexible hoses were also checked and proved to be OK, and the system was then flushed and bled with top quality brake fluid. The front brake pads were deglazed and reinstalled as they were OK, the rear shoes were also checked over. The vehicle then passed the MOT braking efficiency checks following this work being carried out.
Other than that it is a standard unmolested Phase 2 DTurbo, electric windows, remote central locking with deadlocks, electric sunroof, OE stereo with steering wheel stalk controller. It has the blue/yellow pattern velour trim which is in very tidy condition, although there is a minor rub mark starting to show on the drivers seat bolster.
Wheels are 14" harrier DTurbo wheels in fair condition, they are not mint although they are not badly kerbed, just suffering from some staining and small areas of bubbling due to their age. Tyres are all in good condition, fronts will need replacing in the next 6k miles I would guess, the rears are Vredesteins with good tread left on them.
The bodywork in general is very tidy, although do not expect a concours example. There are 2 or 3 car park dents here and there, and also a small ding in the roof. None of these are noticeable unless you look closely for them. The front bumper looks to have suffered from motorway miles, and so there are some areas of chipped paint. This could be sorted with a touch up pen. In addition one of the front fog lights has gone brown, although the other one is in very good order.
The car has now covered 140k miles, having done nearly 50k of this in the last two and a half years, the majority being motorway driving. The car was serviced regularly during this period by myself, and honestly is one of the nicer 306 DTurbos I have driven, deceiving the mileage it is showing. The car pulls strongly in all gears, I have not checked but I suspect it may have the later smaller turbo as it does definately seem to boost strongly from lower down in the rev range compared to my Phase 1 306 DT. It is completely standard engine wise, and has not been tuned. It passed the MOT smoke test easily.
The only outstanding thing I need to do before it goes is to replace the drivers side window mechanism, as the plastic clip has broken that drives the window up and down, this will be done before sale.
Looking at other cars available for sale, others similar would go for around £1500. Due to this one having above average miles I am offering it for sale at £1300. The car is stored at my dads house near Redditch, South of Birmingham, 10 mins from M5/M42.
Some pictures are below. Sorry they are not that great, only had the camera on my phone to use. Unfortunately none of the interior as my phone would not make them come out.
