Ive got a Salisbury, Yes you need to take shit loads out of the g/box case and the diff cover. You do come very close to going through. I helped mine a bit by fitting high grade button head bolts to the crownwheel. Careful shimming is a must on both sides of the diff, no just one side as per the norm. Do be careful as the crownwheel could touch the mainshaft bearing.
I seriously doubt it! |

I agree with Paul totally, I've just put on into a turbo box and had alot of the afor mentioned problems. Carefull measureing / grinding of case / shimming on both sides was necassery, aswell as reducing head hieght to 4 mm on the 8 bolts, wich hold the Salisbury together. I'm sure it has already been done but the Salisbury itself does require machining to fit into any mini box (Large chamfer on the non crownwheel side) all the above is becoming more apparent day by the day,lol i just reread your post Gav, and is machining the diff a good idea, its not been done up to now, i see what your suggesting, gut never having had one in bits i don't know how thick the diff housing is around said area, i'll assume its thick , and that youv'e had no problems,it does seen like a ray of ligth i must say, i was looking at build up weld to the outside of the diff housing around the offending area just in case i had to really had to rem ove lots, , but the diff maching sounds like it may make thing a bit easier, carl Edited by fastcarl on 13th Feb, 2007. |
