just thought i spill all you guys into what ive been throught the last nine months nearly. ive manage to pick myself up off the floor. it started in early summer last year, bought this supposidly good turbo motor checked it all out all seemed good rebuilt few thing. kinda took his word for it too, which may have been stupid mistake. started her up seemed ok
then all of sudden masses of smoke coming out. ok and by this time im pretty pissed off having spend a few months doing the car getting it all together with the other bits we had to do. so dad being patient tells me to calm down. long story short piston ring was F*ucked. so out comes engine apart again for second time. rebuilt the whole lot up. but it back together and in within next few months. then start her up it seemed good.... for a while but couldnt get thing run right. found out after a bit that it was the module so changed that, drove it for while and then it started to smoke again, diagnoised it as turbo, rebuilt that up slapped that back on and it seemed ok for a while just few niggling problems we were slowly eliminated before i went to the rollers as it stil wasnt brilliant running right. then it started over heating, thought the worse a cracked head or something so changed head to something else to try and it seemed ok for awhile again a while being a couple hours. then started over heating again. done it few time. then smoke again, i mean alot of smoke and crank case pressure. my breather was completely clogged up. and it was drinking oil as quick as anything. yup so basically it fucked the pistons and bore up. couldnt figure why it was doing it as we had right stuff on it, didnt check the rad bought it from a MATE a while back and had it on my 998. he said it was two core one but it was a standard one after checking, i no checking it late but we think that was the problem as it only heated over now and again. the header tank helped. so yea couple weeks back sent the block of to be rebored. guess my luck again, the block had sleeves in it so it cudnt be rebored so i had to by new block, that is the current state that im at now, the block is being rebored at this moment in time. i hope i get more luck with it this time. just thought let you no guys just incase any of you were getting fed up of building the turbo motor up because when mine was working for those few hours it was very good to drive. but yea we did think also that it could be over heating too due to the block being bored right out to massive size then braking and some1 putting sleeves into it. the theory behind this is less metal between water and the bore for the heat to go into to it was just bubbling up water. sorry for long thread.

That's really bad luck mate.

Could you not just buy a cheapy 1275, slap your turbo stuff on it and run around at 4psi for a while until your good engine is sorted?

Why not buy a pro built engine? Morespeed do a nice turbo short block for about £700 exchange I think. That way things are less likely to go wrong and if they do it's not your fault. Just slap on your head and box and put a turbo of known condition on it and your away. I know what it's like, I bought plenty of "good condition/low mileage" engines and none of them were even useable.

ye i no if i would have no how much hassle and money i spent so far i wud bin better off buying from morepseed the short kit. but ive spent all the money now and im practically their.

and yea i did think about liners but i already have my 40 thou pistons and my standard pistons are dead so it was cheaper for me to buy a block and get that bored than to buy liners. if that makes sense. but yea my block shall be done this week and ill be building it up and putting it back in car next week. i did have some luck thou buying the new block bought it from a mate it was complete engine apart from clutch housing and clutch stuff and i got it all for 40£ ha bargin considering brand new pistons and it a 1293 and the head had a refurb to. he didnt need it no more so i grabbed a bargin. so i now have few bits to sell like the na pistons and what not if dad dont need em so ill be able make bit money back, well some petrol money anyways,
