As the title really, can you use an auto block and convert it to manual, (in this case k1100) the main problems that are now obvious are:

1. Oil dipstick location missing (although can't see it being a problem to drill out?

2. Oil pump location different?, so not sure if that will limit my selection of oil pumps?

3.Weren't the auto's hgher compression, as they needed a bit more power due to having to drive an auto box?

Any help would be appreciated.

Matt

Can you grab a pick of the oil pump end?

As you say the dipstick shouldn't be a problem

plus the compression is easily got round, so its just the oilpump/ oilways.

Can you drop a gasket on and drill holes to mount a std oil pump?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

danboy that page is spot on! cheers

Does seem to be a hell of a lot of effort for not much gain....might be worth just getting a manual block instead?

*Alex that link could be worth putting in the "FAQ" section or perhaps "how to"?

i'd try find a manual block but keep that one incase the sources start to run dry or become expensive.

at the minute 998's are relatively cheap.

Wish i'd kept more blocks and stuff though!!!
