Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Looking to get a new desktop. use it for a bit of CAD (solidworks so nothing to strenuous for it), internet and uni assignment etc.

Been looking at this from ebuyer:

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/in...duct_uid=116034

plus a 19" monitor and a couple of other bits.

Seems to review well. Advantage of ebuyer is that i need it now for uni but i'm skint, and i can pay it off interest free over the next 9months.

Unless its worth visiting the retail parks?i'm guessing i wont get anywhere near as good a deal?

Cheers *smiley*

dont dell!!! we have a laptop and desktop and both run so slow as soon as you put any programs or files on it!
my desktop is at the point were i have to remove a program to put another on! to keep it running ok! we phone them all the time but there just reading advice from a screen! which never works! so they resort to telling you to reinstall windows!

Im a network manager, buy about a thousand machines a year lol.

Dont touch any packard bell or medion pcs and you normally cant go wrong.

Its cheaper to buy a pc rather than build one these days sadly.

Have a look at misco.co.uk, cheap and fast delivery

scan are good too.

If your wanting computer parts, overclockers.co.uk are good.

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Dell are ok if you have a service contract with them as a company would but not if your a private individual in my experience. They do make the best palmtops though.

Before you splash out some cash buy a copy of MicroMart as there are always loads of companies that will build what you need at reasonalbe prices. I have used Eclipse Computers in Coventry a number of times and they have always come up trumps for me!!!

Solidworks is actually quite intensive of it's use of memory and if you want to use the nicer functions such as animations and the basic simulation package that comes with it you will need plenty of memory.

I use a workstation grade laptop (Toshiba ... the dogs!!!) and a machine built specially for CAD work (Althon 64Fx processor and good spec graphics card and 2GB on memory) and it's superb on both. At work I have a crappy 2Ghz P4 based Dell and everything takes 10 times as long to do!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
