Reckon a rwd for a mini is possible then without having to worry about gear box troubles? Dont want a rwd mini really but then again dont want to be replacing gearbox every other day :) Back once again like a renegade master |

No. But don't believe all you read. The mini gearbox when built properly with good quality parts is no where near as bad as people will have you think. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

I second that. I have personally know 140-160BHP engines sitting on top of a well build "standard" Mini box. The quality of the bearings and quality of the build is important ... as is a good layshaft spec.

Obviously the more torque you put through it and the more agressive you are with it the faster it will deteriorate. There is a guy near me that regularly kills gearboxes in a 998 Mini but I am sure I could get reasonable millage out of the same box. At the end of the day, it is only your feet that breaks gearboxes :) Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."
