christ i have the hump! had a hospital appointment this morn, all seems ok, on my way home my thermostat housing has blown off!!!! WTF snapped the bolts but these will come out ok fortunatly, SKYLINES ARE LIKE CLITS, EVERY FLANGE SEEMS TO HAVE ONE: see this sticker on my silvia

Yikes, how the hell has that happened? Seems really bad, snapping the bolts! Must have been some force behind that. |

cant understand why there was a pressure in the system, i only had it all apart about 2 weeks ago to flush thecooling system & rad, new pipes the lot! seems a wierd one to me cause all looks hunky dory other than the obvious, got me dirty wooley jumper on now to have a look & hopefully sort it all out! if the oil pressure light has come on and its a standard one i'd be a bit worried. they're not set very high, 8psi isnt it? |

Iain, thats a good point, they are set to 8psi, maybe lower.... if you have a low oil psi.... saying that are you sure it wasnt the alternator warning light, it could have been that, maybe why it overheated, not moving the waterpump. |

Just put thicker oil in, that helps, if your running 10w40 change to 20w50, not the best thing to do but if it keeps you on the road then it will do the job. |

well with my drivin style normally it comes on in the bends but it flickered a few times when going up a slight hill when the temp was hottest due to water loss, suffice to say i did drive like my gran when i was loosing water, aslong as tomorrow goes ok with the other jobs on my mini, other than using thick oil is there any cheapo oil leak fix's to keep the lil bugger going untill i get my motor built up? oh its low, i have ot top it up once a week, sometimes a lil more depending on distance etc, it is leaking like a good british car should :) loosing far to much oil really, i got an advisery at mot time, should SKYLINES ARE LIKE CLITS, EVERY FLANGE SEEMS TO HAVE ONE: see this sticker on my silvia

My old mini had a knackered engine in it leaked like a sieve! used too fill that up when the oil light came on!! |

oh it just gets better! took my clutch slave cylinder bracket off & sliced my hand open! been to the a&e to have butterflie stiches, for frick-sake, i only had that part to put back on before a test run too! pic is on the way SKYLINES ARE LIKE CLITS, EVERY FLANGE SEEMS TO HAVE ONE: see this sticker on my silvia
