Just seen a blue engine block in the pictures section. It looks similar to a A series but different oil filter location. I have seen one on a montego at the scrapyard, just curious is this block better or the same any advantages or disadvantages over using std mini or metro item, would it fit onto the std mini gearbox, any info would be of help.

yeah the gearbox looks a strange mix of parts, can these blocks be used on a std mini gearbox or not, yeah the head was the opposite way round to a mini the engine had a strange lookin inlet manifold. |

Oh rite, can see that now, what is the one i have seen in the scrap yard on the old montego it looks very similar, has a A+ head on it etc and the round bit where it looks like a oil filter would go or different dizzy is the same.

Could be either an inline block, or an automatic. I cannot remember if the Montego had a side mounted gearbox. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

See midget album in pictures area. This is an in-line A+ block.Apparently there are many internal differences to the transverse block, including main bearings, fixings etc. 'Where does the engine go?' |
