Hi there, I am having a slight problem with my 1989 998cc mini anniversary (i want to get it running again before i put my turbo motor in)!

Basically it has been sitting in the garage for the while and has not been used (for a good 2 or 3 months). I went to get it going again the other week and the clutch has seized up and the pedal wont press down. I have just tried to bump start the car (as the battery is flat aswell lol *oh well*) and we have realised that the clutch is actually stuck disengaged rather than engaged like we thought.

Any ideas?

Turbo power here I come! *happy*

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

get a big bar between the clutch cover and arm and try and move it that way

otherwise the master, or slave cylinder might have had its day

Are you sure? Did you leave a brick on the clutch pedal?
Paul

I seriously doubt it!

i have this on a car that had been stood for nearly a year.
the main problem was the plunger in the wok as siezed with rust.

nics idea sounds good, with lashings of wd40, just be warey that the wok is only ally though!

Had this problem on my mates 998 try removing the fly wheel bell housing (if thats what its called, the bit with the arm on and freeing that up) its a struggle with the engine in the car but it can be done free it up and put back together with some copper slip on

Yes deffo sounds like the plunger is seized.

What happens is you put your foot on the clutch, and disengage it, and the plunger sticks in. Next time you push the pedal you just pressurise the system as the plunger hasn't returned the slave cylinder.

Do as Nic says. get a bar/big screwdriver and force the arm back (towards the engine). Plenty of WD40 on the plunger will help.
