Okay those who probably saw my last car at the rolling day (orange 1380) probably were expecting something new seeing as the car basically need patching around the entire floor pan!

Well I have it now at last! I haven't had chance to sort out any proper pics yet but i've got one, doesn't really show the colour that well, its actually Suziki Green Yellow Colour.

There is a few bits and pieces to do like change the bonnet, get rid of the tinted glass etc. Probably a blow over at some point as it was painted 6 years ago!

Its got a 1275 A+ in at the minute thats only done 30k, but it will be making way for the 1380 so I can then get the turbo engine built up!!

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/pics/index.php...mg=LNA589P.jpeg

Its got a few good bits on it all ready, FIA Kevlar Corbeau's, minispares 4 pot calipers, should be a good basis hopefully!

Yeah it sure did Alex, it was sorry to see it get towed away (some guy bought it just for the s brakes), it was even worse when he mailed me a photo of what happened on the way home, his old man had to do an emergency stop and the mini lept forward into the jockey wheel bar!! Put a good dent in the front panel!

This car is good base for working on, plus its actually on the road, needs some tweaks, and would be nice to have a colour change....

all in good time eh??

Thanks for sticking the picture on iain

Just a quick update on the car, 1380 has now replaced the 1275, the head is currently with Mike Barrett for unleaded conversion, and sizing of chambers to give correct compression ratio for cam etc, also got some roller tips from Mike, and going to be using one of his custom air filters that he sells. The air filter was featured in minimag as part of a back to back test with Keith Calver at Mikes place, and it made 7bhp on a 1275 over anything else!!

The engine made 67bhp at the wheels at the rolling road in april so hopefully with the latest tweeks i might be getting near to 80bhp!

Still haven't forgot the turbo, but i'm not in a rush and i'm collected parts here and there

Got my vented discs machined down to 7.5" and the metro drive flanges on now, so the brakes should be more than enough

Just a quick update, had the car on the rollers that Mike Barrett uses last friday and it certainly feels alot different. For some reason the brand new carb i had fitted was a bit unusual in that the base of jet (bit where needle goes in) was quite low down, Mike said it was unusual but he managed to get round it. After which a bit of needle filing and bingo!

Unfortunately the rolling road calibration is out after having a new pot fitted (last one was fitted for 20 years!) so no real ideas on actual power.

Seems better than before when it made 67bhp at wheels so could be upto my 80bhp estimate.

Also found out my overheating problem wasn't real, Mike put a fully calibrated digi temp gauge on and turns out halfway between N and H was 74 deg C (thermostat temp) and H was 80 deg C. So i am fairly happy with that.

Looking at getting the car ready for the multipoint cage next, and getting the arches tubbed etc. Its going to be a slow project but going to try and keep it on the road over summer, and save the long dark nights for making progress!!

its an 'avonbar racing' item, got it off their website and it came through in a couple of days normal post.

Only thing I had to do was alter the metal bypass tube on the head as it prevented the head sitting onto the block properly. Fortunately I had the tube blocked with a brass plug, so i popped the plug out and ground the tube back till it would clear nicely.

I can vouch for these mounts, they seem to be very secure!

The offside one is the era turbo rover part available through minispares.

Finally got some pics sorted, cage is all in now, just needs some bits of tidying to do. Was going to go to town on the bodywork, but reckon i'll leave until all the running gear is sorted!

nah bottled it carl, with it being important i didn't want to make a mess!! the guy that did is good with the welder, he runs the minicentre in lincoln which is near where i work, and he has been playing with mini's for years, although normally all his 'tubbing' and stitching etc is on cars like autograss and rally cars where the end result doesn't need to look too pretty, so he had to take his time with mine!!
