thats pretty good going. ive never heard of offering a lower figure to settle an account, thought they would have held out to try and get every last penney from you, nice one though

then again its worth trying anything with the banks now that this bank charges thing has cropped up, banks are paying out left right and centre to people who are clameing bank charges back, i should know as ive been succesfull on 2 claims now

kind of agree with you carl, if you spend the money then you should pay it back but banks are so gready that its often them that get people so racked up in debt due to there high interest rates and charges

Out of interest how does this approach effect your credit rating?

can see that it would effect it at all, its them that are in the wrong for over charging so it cant have any effect on your credit rating

i dont understand surely its in their best interest to just make you keep paying? How did you make the offer go into the bank?

if you owe a large amount and only make the minimum payment each month the bank dont get much of there cash back so they dont make a lot out of it, if they have that cash back it means they can then lend it to someone else and make money out of them
