providing my moped gets sold tommorrow, i can get started on my turbo project, i was wondering whether a 1098 would be alright to turbo,
i know its just awkward but i want to be different and i want to see what a 1098 can do.
basically:
i used to have a 1098 but i destroyed it and had to get a 998, the main difference is the 1098 had so much more torque than the 998 which i thought could be good off boost.
also the 1098 according to my haynes manual has a CR of 8.5:1 which is nice and low as standard for a turbo.
the only problem is that it is just a stroked 998 so it has a 83.72m stroke so after all the waffling, heres my question.
with such a long stroke i am guessing it wont rev very well but with some strengthning it could be better, is it worth turboing or shall i just go for the 998 ????
sorry for the long post. and sorry if it makes no sense
dan

If your not going to rebuild the engine and have most the bits already, then give it ago. You'll be learning all the way

9 valves, 4 wheel drive, 3 cylinders, 1 turbo, which got nicked

you don't need to rev turbos lots to get the power, so a 1098 will be fine

the only other thing is that it has the same bore size as a 998 but with shorter pistons, these pistons are as rare as it gets because no one really has 1098 any more and also the standard ones may not handle a high boosting turbo, if i can get some good 998 pistons can they be machined down to fit or will i have to get some custom ones made??
