Hi, I'm still having a problem with my car. It developed a missfire a few months ago and I can't cure it.

I'm thinking about replacing the ignition system. I didn't really want to go for a Megajolt.

What would you reccomend other than MJ?

Which cylinder is it missing on?
If its missing on 2 & 3 then its head gasket,
If its on just 1 cylinder it could be a burnt out or bent valve,
It could be a cracked distributor cap, faulty lead etc
You probably know this though.
Paul

I seriously doubt it!

I no this may sound stupid, but i've recently had a similar sounding problem on my cooper engine (which is bein replaced by a turbo soooooon!!!!) woot! Anyways....it seemed to be misfiring and i replaced the entire ignition systme except for the electronic ignition n dizzy itself, did a dry n wet compression test (and established possibly a crap ring on 4) but not low compression on 2 and 3 indicating head gasket was fine, rebuilt the carb twice, and fiddled with$ timing numerous times! And it ended up being a blocked air filter! I replaced that with a nice new pipercross one and it's fine now!!!

It sounded like it was misfiring, hence why it maybe a similar situation for u. Try that...as i say, sounds stupid, but u never no!!!
