i was doing a bit of number crunching with the acceleration runs ffrom the spud ,and thought it might be interesting to compare the real world graphs with those from a drag analyser software i have

then used the real time graphs to make a more accurate model

this worked well ,so then i thought ,how bout stepping up the hp in steps ,and making a graph of bhp versus terminal speed at the 1/4 mile .
i could use this to guage bhp at the track , ,

this is based on my car with the group 5 arches etc ,so would have a higher drag than some other minis, but i thought it may be interesting to some of the crew on here .
bear in mind that the top end speed is very related to bhp, but will also be affected by weight 60 ft time etc to some degree .

That's very interesting.

Is that bhp at the wheels?

I always used to use the rule that if you multiplied the terminal speed by the ET you should get 1320. So using that rule, the graph also should give a theoretical ET.

I think that because high hp turbo Minis are slow off the line, the ETs are usually a bit higher.

thanks axel yes i thought it was too ,
thats bhp at the crank , and it prob wont necessarily compare with the rr results all the time , i know that when i was testing cars on the rr sometimes just closing the bonnet would drop a fair few bhp .so at the track with bonnets shut and higher temp it all combines to give a lower figure sometimes ,unless of course all that has been programmed into the rr software and its testing situation is similar to the track bonnet shut etc .

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

hmm very intriging

what do you think causes the slight spike at 100mph?

i crossed at 106mph, and the car was rr'ed on peter baldwins at 188 at 14psi, though i was running 18psi at avon.

Ive noticed that each psi seems to give an 11 banana increase. However i was running low compression on one cylinder at avon (this happened after the rr), so im not sure how much difference that would have made

also baldwins rollers are a bit high

though this looks like it could be somewhere near right fomr my experience

Very interesting. I cross at a shade under 100mph and have circa 140banans.

So looks reasonable.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph
