Hi, first off sorry I aint been around lately.

Now 0-60mph. If I wanted to reach it in under...... lets say 5 seconds how much would I need to put into the engine etc to get that sorta performance. Is there any place you would recommend to get in touch with to aquire the parts.

Cheers, Mini Stevo

Yes we have missed you, with 7 post your input on this forum has been missed..only having a laugh, please don't do a sauber on me!

To get those kind of 0-60 times you will need some serious clout, very good traction and a decent power to weight ratio..it is possible.

Good luck!

Id love to get the 5 second mark beaten, acceleration and cornering is everything to me. Top end isnt to important as where can you use it? short gear ratio's would be good aswell I spose.

Cheers, Stevo

I did a 5.7 sec at trax show, but my cars a big heay monster and the wrong diff, so if you had say a usable 150 bhp and a light car running the right diff with a lsd, then i don't see why a 5 sec isn't possible! Turbo dave also did a run and he got 5.1 sec i think and his car isn't stripped out either!

Yes mate for sure, also helps that the guy CAN drive as well.
Like i say power isn't every thing, but if i was to see people on the road at 30 mph and up, well could be different:)

Hmmmph, seems a bit pointless having all the power and not being able to do anything with it ??

i agree mate to a point, but my car hasn't been built for 1/4 racing or 0-60 times:) but if i met you on the ROAD from 30 MPH up wards then i would be able to use some of it, and then the power Really is useful, there aren't many Minis that can keep up with a 400 bhp Cossie 30 to 110 mph*wink*, Skylines, scoobys Evos, M3s the list goes on and on, sorry just wanted to tell you *wink**wink*

Exactly , we all build are cars for different reasons .
Matt knows a lot ot turbo mini`s will kill him on the track & 1/4mile but put him on an open motorway and he will kill us...
i think its called horses for coarses....

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

Hmm... interesting thread. I'm working slowly on my turbo conversion and have been pondering this very issue.

As far as I know the turbo engine/gearbox is totally standard. What will I need to see 120bhp and at what cost? My personal "thing" is fast 0-60 - I love a good blast away from the lights leaving some lardy Bavarian brage standing *tongue*

If you want a quick 0-60 you need to do it with one gearchange only, and have a close ratio between those two gears....
At TRAX last year, I upped my rev limit to 6800 (around 64mph?) and once i'd bounced off the rev limiter i knew i'd done enough!
I did have THREE wheels and tyres in the car with me, and all my tools aswell when i did those runs of course!
