I have been running An injection clutch in the 1400. Recently the springs in the friction plate have started to complain, so I bought the AP racing plate. I had on the shelf a Turbo Verto pressure plate, so I thought id swap everything over, as the engine output is getting larger with all the extra mods.

For those that dont already know, it will concern those who run injection engines and wish to uprate the clutch. There is a difference in location of the pressure plate on the flywheel and if nothing is done to recify this before puting the flywheel back on the engine, the SPi engine just wont start, and the MPi engine will start but not much else.

It is a matter of removing the reluctor, moving it to coincide with TCD of the assembled turbo clutch.

I have heard this a few times, people with issues getting the engine to start or run properly, after asking the question the clutch had been replaced, and as far as I could work out, they were not injection pressure plates.

Here is a picture of the two side by side and orientated the same. You can see where the key in the taper boss is at a different angle. After i had marked up TDC on the assembled turbo/ flywheel in relation to the crank sensor you can clearly see the difference in crank angle. Note, I did actualy make a mistake marking the SPi TDC for this picture, it is actualy nearer to the 'A' of the 'advance'. However it is clear that there is a massive difference what ever way you look at it.

The only thing I am a little concerned with is that the Effort required to depress the pedal is actualy less than that of the Injection clutch. Does the Turbo verto have different lever ponts or something or have I fitted anything other than the turbo clutch?? It is a Borg & Beck and is marked Light blue, see in the piccy above. Just going out for a spin to see if everything is hunky dorey. The clutch feel is very different*oh well*

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

All diaphrams are not the same - two can have the same dimensions and thickness, and be significantly less in clamping than another.

What was the thickness and OD of your 'turbo' spring???

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

I wish I had measured it. I had found that topic about the verto clutches after i'd put the thing back together, but it does say light blue is turbo. Tt came in a Borg & Beck box and that says turbo on it. Still, doesnt stop some low life painting one finger light blue and sticking it in an old box he had on the shelf *oh well*

Ive been out in it and its fine, bites quick compared to what im used to, and i think i'll have to adjust it a little as the bite point is right at the top. I measure the end stop gap at 6mm, where it should be 6.5mm. It wasnt miles out. I left it, see how it goes kind of thing.

And 'I know' what your saying Dave *wink*
